The Book of Proverbs 18:4 states: “The words of a person’s mouth are as deep waters, and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook.”   What you say to people around you can be refreshing as deep waters and a flowing stream, when your words are filled with wisdom. Wise words (the principles found in the Bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ), provide strength similar to a refreshing drink of water on a hot day or after a work out. Wise words not only refresh our spirit, but like a cool drink of water, wise words replenish our body with needed fluids to sustain our very being and to build us up.

This is why we should be very particular about what we say to people and not be too quick to say things to people(James 1;19). Think before you speak to people to make sure your words are chosen carefully and wisely.  Our words carry weight and they flow like water and many times have long standing consequences (like a flowing river). So watch what you say and use choice words of wisdom each time you speak. Your words will bring life and encouragement to those who hear you, and a wellspring of wisdom as water to refresh their soul.
